origins favourites beauty burberry highlighter dior makeup fresh

Burberry Sheer Summer Glow Palette*
What a beautiful highlighting palette this is. It consists of 4 colours, 2 for bronzing and 2 for highlighting, which means its a real multi-pupose product. The quality is amazing and I've really enjoyed using it.

Dior Amber Diamond Highlighter
I caved and finally bought this after hearing so many great things about it. This highlighter is much more shimmery than the Burberry with 4 colours, ranging from a white, to champagne to a more orangey bronze.

Origins Plantscription Concealer*
This is everything I could ask for in a concealer, it's moisturising, the perfect colour match and lasts really well on my skin. It reminds me of the Collection 2000 concealer but without the cakey look that it sometimes gives me. This is good for people with dry skin.

Origins Plantscription Foundation*
I'm going to make a pretty bold statement here... I think this is my favourite foundation I've tried. WOAH! I'm pretty fickle, so that doesn't actually mean much, I'll probably find a new one soon, ha. But seriously, I love this foundation. It's quite sheer depending on how you apply it and it's very moisturising, I also find it lasts all day on my skin. I'm really impressed by this and have loved using it.

Origins GinZing Mascara*
Another fabulous product from the new Origins makeup range, I swear I'll stop raving about Origins soon. This mascara is supposed to lengthen and brighten but I also think it's amazing for volume. The brush is massive and you hardly have to touch the lashes to get the volume and length.

Real Techniques Stippling Brush (missing in photo)
I've fallen back in love with this brush after spending months using the buffing brush for foundation. I think this one works better for sheer foundations and tinted moisturisers.

Origins Clear Improvement Mask*
This mask is pretty scary to use as it's a thick, black and looks like tar. It's the strangest thing because when it's on I feel like it's so refreshing and sort of zingy. I love how it feels and although it's a bit tough to wash off, it leaves my skin feeling really good.

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish & Lip Treatment
This is my favourite evening lip combo and works a treat on my dry lips. The lip polish is a lovely sugar scrub that tastes amazing and the lip treatment is the best lip balm I've tried with ridiculous lasting power.

Illamasqua 'Forgiveness' Eye Shadow
I saw this eye shadow at an Illamasqua makeup masterclass that my mum and I attended, they used it on her and I fell in love with it. It a purple, plum, brown (I couldn't pick which colour) and works really well in the crease and under the lower lash line. It really suits my skin tone and hair colour so I've been using it a lot.

So there are my monthly favourites! Do you like any of these too?

Stila Creme Bouquet Perfume*
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Belissima £15*

I was recently introduced to Stila's Autumn 2012 collection. Stila was once very hard to get hold of, but now many of the Boots branches stock it and I think it's great because it's a brand I really like. I was excited to see what products they will be launching and I wasn't disappointed.

The Creme Bouquet perfume is back and in a gorgeous bottle. The scent is a blend of vanilla, pink lilac and lily of the valley so as you can imagine it's very floral, sweet and girly.  I absolutely love the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, which is exactly as it sounds. It's like a very thick, paint-like lipgloss that gives an amazing finish. Although it's full coverage and creamy it's also lightweight and enjoyable to wear. A product to look out for is the 'In the Know' palette which offers 10 matte eye shadows, perfect for Autumn! It also comes with a waterproof matte eyeliner in charcoal grey and you it all for £25. The shades in the palette are lovely and can be used wet or dry.

When I was at the event I put a photo on Instagram of their Stay All Day Foundation & Concealer and everyone went crazy for the packaging. It's available in 16 shades which is pretty impressive and the concealer is full coverage.

We also got a sneak peak at their Christmas collection which includes some really great gift sets. The All Is Bright Lip Glaze Set puts 8 of their most popular lip glazes into one pack for only £18.50 with a value of £70.

Stila is available at selected Boots, ASOS, Feel Unique and Stila.co.uk.

Glitter makes the world go round

Tuesday, 28 August 2012

I thought I'd show you some of my glitter nail polishes today as I've become a bit of a magpie within the last year and I seemed to have collected quite a few! There are more, but here are the best ones.

I don't know why I love glitter nail polishes so much, they're not very grown up or classy, but they're just so sparkly!

I think my top 5 would be:

O.P.I for Sephora 'Spark-tacular'
This is pretty much an exact dupe for O.P.I Rainbow Connection which is why I picked it up when I was in America. The glitter circles are all different sizes and are multi-coloured. I like to wear is over a shimmery or pearl nail polish to get a full glitter effect as I'm not a fan of block colour with dispersed glitter on top.

I spoke about this polish in this post and it's brand new to Topshop. The colour is just amazing and looks great over a bright blue so that the glitter just catches the light.

LOOK Beauty 'Bling'*
Love, love, love this. It applies like a dream, leaving a thick layer of condensed glitter. It's also a gorgeous vintage pink colour that goes with nearly everything.

Bourjois 1 Second '14'*
I would probably describe this as a fairy's birthday party in a bottle. Purply, pinky sparkly goodness but the thing I like most about it is the amazing brush and the smooth application. This one always gets the most compliments!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 'Disco Ball'
This is really different one to the others. It's a top coat so can be used over any polish and it goes on nice and thick leaving a blue/green toned glitter. It literally makes your nails look like a disco ball.

I think I need to chill out with the glitter nail polishes now.

Are you also a glittery nail fan?

Lady Gaga Fame

Lady Gaga 'Fame'*

"Fame, a beautiful prospect with a dark heart" - Lady Gaga

As we all know, Lady Gaga isn't one to do things discreetly or to conform in any way, so there has been a lot of rumours surrounding the release of her first fragrance. I heard that her perfume would be containing some ingredients that are so obscure (and gross) that I can't even mention them on here.

One thing that was confirmed before the release was that the perfume would be a 'black fluid'. The black fluid is a first for the perfume industry, where the perfume's liquid is actually black until it's airborne (sprayed) and becomes clear. The perfume is made in Gaga's own Haus Laboratory in Paris (click on that link to see the ridiculous website).

Onto the fragrance notes, then I promise I'll tell you my thoughts on it...
The scent is built around three main accords: dark, sensual and light. Usually perfumes use top, middle and base notes but this one instead uses a push-pull technology which means the ingredients all work together without any kind of hierarchical structure (so Gaga!). The scents include honey, saffron, apricot, tiger orchid and jasmine samba.

Now, I bet you all want to know what I think of it? My first impressions of the bottle is that it's amazing! It's definitely something you'd want to show off on your dressing table. You can see the black fluid through the clear glass and the lid, which looks like a claw, sits perfectly on it's own when you take it off.
I have to be honest, the scent isn't for me. As I'm sure you're all aware perfume is a very personal thing so even if I don't like it, you may. I was a little disappointed, after such a hype I thought it would be like nothing I've ever smelt, but in fact to me it smells like every other celebrity perfume. It smells floral and sweet to me, something I don't look for in a fragrance. I think it's a shame as I was really expecting something amazing. But hey, you know how picky I am with perfumes!

It is available now from Haus Laboratories  for £25, £32 and £55.

Will you be trying it?

A day at the Olympics

Friday, 24 August 2012

I didn't have time to write a 'proper' post today, so I thought I'd show you some photos I had from the day Rich and I went to the Olympics. I was very happy to be invited by British Airways to experience Park Live, which is the outdoor screen in the Olympic Park.

We didn't have tickets to a game, but I'm so glad I went and got to experience the park. The whole place was buzzing, with athletes walking around everywhere. There were food stands, picnic tables and GIANT McDonalds every 20 steps. It was right by the river and we were lucky with the weather so we just sat on the grass and soaked up the atmosphere.

We watched Murray and Robson win a Silver medal in Park Live and it was amazing. BA were also shooting... yes literally shooting t-shirts out of these big gun things and if you caught one you could win a trip anywhere in Europe. So that was fun!

I loved the Olympics and it made me feel proud to be British.

I hope you like the photos. I was very hungover on this day so please excuse what I look like.

Hope you enjoyed the games too!

Topshop Makeup and Louise Gray

Thursday, 23 August 2012

Dart nail polish* & Junkyard nail polish*

For the first time, Topshop makeup has collaborated with a designer and I'm so pleased they went with a British one. The A/W collection is based on Louise Gray's vibrant personality so it's young, bold and fun.

The collection is quite large and consists of a cream blush duo, loose glitters, bright blue eyeliner, an eye palette, eye shadows, mascara, velvet lipsticks and glitter nail polishes.

I love the two polishes above and there are also two other colours available; pink glitter and green glitter.

All the products are bright and quite out there, but I think it's really fun to experiment with bold makeup, especially as we go into Autumn and our wardrobes becomes more neutral.

The collection launches today nationwide and I can't wait to go and have a look.

Will you be checking out this collection?

Shu Uemura: Style your own

Wednesday, 22 August 2012

Shu Uemura palette £10*
Blusher M561 £16*
Shadow P131 £11*
Shadow ME885 £11*

A couple of weeks ago I went along to the Shu Uemura shop in Covent Garden to have a play with some of their products. We spent the first half of the evening watching a makeup demonstration and the second half... ready for it... building our own palettes!

We tested out their amazing cleansing oils, but the highlight of the night was discovering their 'Style your Own' palettes. The palettes are available as a single, duo or quad and you can fill it with either just shadows, just blushers or a mix of both. In my palette I have 1 blusher and 2 shadows and this kind of palette would cost you £48. It is expensive and it's definitely at the higher end of makeup, but it does show in the quality. The blusher is really pigmented and you only need a tiny amount and the shadow colours are gorgeous. There were so many amazing shadows, some with really interesting undertone colours - I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

These are really good if you want to make yourself the perfect on the go palette or if you want to give it as a gift. They'll be on counters from September so keep an eye out!

Have you ever tried Shu Uemura makeup? Would you like a 'build your own' palette like this?
