NEOM Invigorate Candle

NEOM Invigorate Candle - £39.50*

I've expressed my love for NEOM candles before and NEOM products in general, but this candle is by far my favourite so far.

The new candle for July 2012 is made with uplifting scents such as Grapefruit, Bergamot and Lime. The combination of scents are supposed to create positive thoughts and strengthen your spirit.. just what I need right now!

I absolutely love it and it does just what it says it should. I really love the zestiness and it creates such a nice atmosphere in the home.

NEOM candles are made from 100% natural waxes and essential oils and I think they are truly worth their price tag.

MUA 'Going for Gold'

Friday, 27 July 2012

MUA Limited Edition 'Going for Gold' Eyeshadow Palette £4*

MUA have brought out a 10 shadow palette to celebrate.... can you guess? You know, those games that everyone's going on about.

The gold themed palette has a mix of shimmer shadows in the new square pans. As you can see, there's golds, yellows, a bronze and a few shades of grey.

I definitely prefer the square pans to their usual circular one as it's easier to cover the brush with product. There are a few shades in this palette that I would never wear, but there are definitely some nice ones too. Sorry the photo is a bit messy, unfortunately 2 of the pans came loose and it was a little smashed up when it got to me. It's all a bit of fun to support the Olympics and for £4 you can't really go wrong! The palette is now available on their online store.

What do you think of the new square pans? Do you prefer them now or how they were before?

DIY: Lip Balm Palette

Thursday, 26 July 2012

I have a problem with throwing away nice packaging and this empty Bobbi Brown Concealer palette had been sitting in my room for months. I randomly one day decided I wanted to find away to reuse it... and then the lip balm palette was born!

This really isn't ground breaking and VERY easy to do, but I was quite pleased with myself so I thought I'd show you how I did it.

Step 1: Clean out the palette using a cotton wool bud and some water or makeup remover.

Step 2: Take a little spoon a scoop a bit of your favourite lip balm out of it's pot and place into the empty palette.

Step 3: Use the back of the spoon to smooth down the lip balm and fill out the pan, kinda like when you smooth icing onto a cake!

Step 4: Once you've filled the space with the lip balm, tidy up the edges using a cotton wool bud and then place the palette in the fridge (with the lid slightly open) so the lip balm can set a bit.

Step 5: Remove from fridge after about 30 minutes (or whenever you remember) and you're done! Your two favourite lip balms are ready for your handbag.

You may think, is there really much difference than just taking two lip balms in your bag, but there is to me because I like this packaging better than a big pot... and there's a mirror!

So there's my mini DIY lip balm palette.. what do you think? Will you be trying it?

Elemis Limited Edition Papaya Enzyme Peel

Wednesday, 25 July 2012

Elemis Limited Edition Papaya Enzyme Peel - £28.60*

The Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel is a cult products in the beauty world, but for some reason I'd never tried it before. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the award-winning peel, Elemis have brought one out as a limited edition, in gorgeous packaging designed by Laura Oakes. As well as the very cute design, Elemis have also teed up with a new charity called SOCO to provide funding for over 50,000 vaccinations for children in Africa.

So what is the Papaya Enzyme Peel? It uses an enzyme called Papain, which is extracted from crushed papaya and pineapple which is sourced from Africa. The enzyme gently dissolves any superficial dead skin cells, which make the skin rough and uneven. You apply a generous amount all over the face, leave it for 10-12 minutes and then remove with a damp muslin cloth.

They call it an exfoliator but you apply it kind of like a mask. Once the product is on, it is an off white colour and it does thins funny thing where is separates on your face so you end up looking a bit like a globe. My skin felt extremely soft after using it and my moisturiser worked so much better that night.

I'd highly recommend this product and I know it's going to become a staple in my skincare routine. You can pick it up from Feel Unique, with free delivery here

Have you ever tried this?

Finished Products #1

Tuesday, 24 July 2012

Another video today... this time, my first empties video! I see a lot of people on Twitter asking what the point of empties videos are and why anyone would want to look through someone's empty bottles. For me, these videos are for talking about what I thought of the product and if I'd repurchase it.

I hope you enjoy it and for more details on products, click to watch it on YouTube.

YSL Devoted to Fans #1

Monday, 23 July 2012

Anna, Jen and Kate
YSL - Devoted to Fans #1 £39*

When I first heard that YSL would be making an eye shadow palette dedicated to their Facebook fans using the well-known Facebook colours, I was very uncertain. Yes it’s cool that for the first time ever Facebook is linking with a beauty brand… but YSL? And Facebook? Really?

I went along to Facebook HQ last week in London (squeal) to see and hear what it was all about and actually I think it’s a pretty cool collaboration.
In the palette is 4 shades which when you first look at it you’d describe them as blue, white, purple and black. What I like about this palette is in fact you’re getting much more than that. The blue is my least favourite colour and an obvious choice (how could they not?!) but it looks really nice when using it as an accent colour. The white has a gorgeous purple/pink sheen to it which is really unique and similar to a very popular Illamasqua pigment. The purple is quite glittery with quite a bit of silver showing through and finally the black has green undertones making it quite an original colour. The shadows are OK when used dry, but I find they really work well when used wet. The swatches above are when the shadows are wet and this was something they really wanted people to be able to do when using this palette. So much so that they created air holes where the brushes sit, so they can dry even when the lid is closed. So thoughtful!

The YSL Devoted to Fan #1 palette is a massive tribute and a big, fat thank you to their fans. There are only 1,650 palettes in total available and they are exclusive to their fans on Facebook. So if this is something you like the look of you can purchase it here.

What do you think of this collaboration?

Michel Mercier Detangling Brush

Friday, 20 July 2012

Michel Mercier ‘Untangle Your Day’ Detangling Brush for Thick Hair - £14.95*

For pretty much my whole life I've been on the hunt for a brush that works well with my hair. I can still remember my mum brushing my hair when I was 8 and me screaming so loud that the neighbours came round to check everything was ok.

Michel Mercier to the rescue! Their uniquely designed and patented brush is made up of 428 bristles all positioned in 32 different heights and 16 different diameters. The brush is available for 3 hair types; thin, medium and thick and works on all hair types whether it's European, Afro or Asian.

I was really excited when I heard about the Tangle Teaser and I remember rushing out to buy one, but the minute I tried it I was really disappointed. I felt that the Tangle Teaser just brushed the top layer of my hair and didn't at all work it's way through my thick hair. It was also really hard to hold onto as they don't have handles. I used it once and then never again...

Michel Mercier's detangle brush is everything I wanted the Tangle Teaser to be. It has a handle, it's lightweight and it perfectly glides through hair detangling everything and not breaking one single strand of hair. It's perfect for the summer to take on holiday, but I'll also be using it throughout the year. It's also great for children's hair... oh how I wish this was around when I was little.

The Michel Mercier brushes are available online here and in selected Lloyd Pharmacies.

Rimmel: Kate Spring Lipstick Collection

Thursday, 19 July 2012

Rimmel Kate Spring Lipsticks* in 16,9,20 & 26 - £5.49

More lips today... sorry!

I keep forgetting to write about these... maybe I've been too busy putting on the bright pink one and parading around my house pretending to be Gaga. I first spoke about these lipsticks here and have since acquired a few more.

There are 5 new shades in the Spring collection, sorry I only have 4 to show you. My favourite is shade 16 which is a coral (of course!). I also absolutely love 20 which is a bright pink, although I'll need to be in a brave mood to wear this.

The formula is really creamy! It's easy to apply and feels really nice on. Like I said last time, these are by far my favourite 'drugstore' lipsticks.

Have you tried any of the Spring shades? Are you a fan of these lipsticks?

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

Wednesday, 18 July 2012

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick, Cherish & Honey - £5.99

I walked through Boots the other day and saw these. I had no idea they were already available in the UK, it seems that they came here much quicker than the lip butters did!

I picked up three shades; Lovesick, Cherish and Honey. The packaging is pretty much exactly like the Clinique Chubby sticks; it looks like a crayon with a twisty bit at the bottom. They're really nice and easy to apply which is something I really like about them. They apply as a glossy balm and leave a stain behind once the gloss fades. Lovesick, especially, has a very vibrant tint. Lovesick is a bright pink, Cherish is a a bubblegum pink and Honey is a dark nude pink.

I think the price is good and I've also found them to be really nice mixed with other lip products, such as the Clinique Instant Light lip perfecter. My only negative would be the smell which is very strange. I think they are supposed to smell like mint but to me they just smell like soil and I'm not a big fan of it.

Have you got your hands on any of these yet? What are your thoughts?

Shopping at Boots!

Tuesday, 17 July 2012

I've done a bit of naughty shopping at Boots in the past couple of weeks so I thought I'd show you what I picked up. Does anyone else feel that Boots has got so much better in the last year? I think we may finally be catching up with America and they're impressive drugstores.

Enjoy the video and let me know what you think of everything I bought. As always, please click to watch the video on YouTube to see all the products in the info bar.

Dainty Doll Orange County Girl Blusher

Monday, 16 July 2012

Dainty Doll Cream Blusher in 'Orange County Girl' - £13.50

Another spontaneous buy, when I was buying holiday stuff in Boots. Dainty Doll is the makeup brand of Nicola Roberts (Girls Aloud). The products are primarily aimed at pale skinned ladies, offering amazingly light concealers and foundations, but there are also lots of nice products for us not so pale girls too.

I love a good cream blusher and this one caught my eye when I was browsing. 'Orange County Girl' is a gorgeous coral pink with gold flex that give a lovely highlighting effect. When I swatched it in store I was completely amazed and had to pick it up. I think because of my more olive skin tone, it doesn't show up as well as I'd hoped for, but I used this when I in Morocco and it gives a really nice subtle, coral shimmer to the cheeks. The formula is really creamy, similar to the Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Cream so you can use your fingers to apply it.

I've been really impressed with the Dainty Doll products I've tried so far and my two lovely pale-skinned friends, Zoe and Debs, are massive fans. So I'd recommend you have a little try of the products, which you can pick up in Boots.

Have you tried Dainty Doll? Which products would you recommend?
