Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Capri Collection

Friday, 27 April 2012

Limited Edition Pure Color Five Color Gelee Powder EyeShadow Palette - £35*

Last week I was invited to the gorgeous Four Seasons hotel to preview Estée Lauder's 2012 Bronze Goddess collection. This year the collection is inspired by the beautiful Isle of Capri and is appropriately named 'The Capri Collection'.

Their popular perfume 'Bronze Goddess' is back once again but this time accompanied by it's new friend 'Bronze Goddess Capri'. The new perfume is perfect for the summer and I love how zesty it is! Also in the collection is the Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee in Shimmering Sands which is a gorgeous bronze shimmer powder and a Bronze Goddess Luminous Liquid Bronzer for those brave enough.

The stand out product for me is definitely the Limited Edition Pure Color Five Color Gelee Powder EyeShadow Palette (bit of a mouthful), which is a gorgeous 5 colour palette. The shadows can be used wet or dry and give a beautiful metallic finish. I am seriously impressed by this palette; it is pure luxury!

There are 12 products in total in the Capri collection and you can find the whole collection at House of Fraser. They will be rolled out onto all Estée Lauder counters nationwide from May.

Do you like the look of this palette? Do you use Estée Lauder makeup?

Nails Inc Nail Jewelerry

Nails inc Nail Jewellery £11*

Nails inc is always right on the ball with their new launches and this one is one of my faves! Yes we've all seen a glitter nail polish before, but there's something about the Nail Jewellery polishes that really says wow. I got my nails painted in 'Royal Arcade' and haven't  been able to take my eyes off my nails since. EVERYONE has commented on my nails and I think they look amazing. As you can kind of see in the photo above, the polish is made of lots of different sized hexagons.

The only negative is that, like most glitter polishes, it is very hard to take off. I literally had to scrub my nails, which I really dislike doing. If you're patient enough, wrapping your nails in soaked cotton wool and foil does the job, but it's not very good for your nails.

The polish is available online and in stores in 4 colours; Piccadilly Arcade (emerald green), Burlington Arcade (diamond), Royal Arcade (Sapphire) and Princes Arcade (pink diamond).

What do you think of the Nail Jewellery? Will you be trying them?

JK Jemma Kidd Mannequin Skin Complexion Enhancer

Wednesday, 25 April 2012

JK Jemma Kidd Mannequin Skin Complexion Enhancer - £14*

I first tried this product at the Jemma Kidd Masterclass and completely fell in love. It's a gold, shimmery liquid that can be applied all over the face as a base or used as a highlight. It creates a gorgeous glowing complexion and I love the final result. The consistency is really light and easy to blend.

I would say it can be compared to the L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer and the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector. I haven't tried the Becca on a full face so couldn't really say with that, but I can definitely say I prefer the JK Mannequin to the L'Oreal Lumi Magique. The gold undertones are much more flattering than silver.

Jemma Kidd classes this as one of her 'beauty essentials' and I'd definitely agree!

The JK range is available on ASOS and includes some of my favourite Jemma Kidd products.

Do you like the look of this product? Have you ever tried using an illuminating base?

Kate Moss for Rimmel

Tuesday, 24 April 2012

Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick '05' & '08' - £5.49

Nothing new to the market, but something new to me. When Kate Moss first released her lipsticks with Rimmel I had no interest in trying them. I'm not a big fan of Kate Moss and they just didn't appeal to me. That was until these 3 words came out of Jen's mouth, 'they're really good!'... that was it, I went to buy some (so fickle). I always trust my friends' opinions and I just had to give them a try. My local Boots had hardly any left apart from these two colours, but luckily they were very me.

I wasn't expecting much from a 'drugstore' brand and was prepared for them to be drying... I was so wrong. The lipsticks apply so smoothly and feel really moisturising when on. I love the two colours I chose and think they are very wearable. I'm really impressed with the quality and how lovely they feel on the lips and I'll definitely be looking into buying some of the other shades. I'd go as far as saying this is the nicest 'drugstore' lipstick that I've tried!

Have you tried these and do you like them as much as I do?

Sunday Haul

Zara Coral Linen Scarf , Zara tee, Zara basic Cardigan, Cook MAC 'Hush Hush' Tendertone lip balm,
Converse high tops

Last week wasn't a good week, the weather was horrific and nothing seemed to go right. So when it came to the weekend I needed some retail therapy... yes, I said NEEDED.

I've been loving Zara recently so I went straight there to see what I could find. Despite the cold and the rain it feels weird wearing a winter scarf in April so I picked up this nice linen Summer scarf. It's really soft and I love the colour! I also bought a basic grey cardigan for those days where you need an extra layer but don't want to cover up a nice top or shirt. The final thing I picked up at Zara was a loose Aztec print t-shirt that I can wear now and  throughout the Summer.

I've also been looking to buy some casual shoes for ages as I only have black boots and some days black boots just aren't appropriate. I tried on a few different Converse, but I find that most of them look ridiculous on me. These were the last ones I tried and I actually really like them. I think the black laces make all the difference and makes them more wearable. They're not canvas like most Converse, they are nylon which I quite like.

So quite a basic shop, nothing too exciting, but things that I needed.
Do you like what I bought? Are you also loving Zara?

Ojon Hair Routine

Friday, 20 April 2012

Dry Recovery Hydrating Shampoo £18*, Dry Recovery Hydrating Conditioner £19.50*,
Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment*

I used to use pretty much anything on my hair. I was always quite picky with the styling products but when it came to shampoo and conditioner it was whatever smelt nice or was on offer. In the last year or so I have been much more aware of the products I use on my hair and it really has made all the difference.

For the last few weeks I have been using Ojon products and I am completely in love. The shampoo and conditioner are from the Dry Recovery range and the treatment is from the Damage Reverse range.

As you can tell from the name, the most important and main ingredient in Ojon's products is the Ojon oil, which originates from Central America and is known as a 'velvety smooth golden elixir'.

The shampoo and conditioner have a really thick consistency that feels really luxurious and puts a lot of moisture back into the hair. It's perfect for my kind of dry and damaged hair. The treatment is incredible! I was quite surprised when I took the lid off to see a really solid, wax-like product. As instructed, I took quite a big scoop out with a spoon and then rubbed the product between my hands until it turned into an oil. I then rubbed the oil all over my hair and left it on my hair, under a shower cap for about 30 mins (or as long as possible).

My hair feels really good at the moment and I know it's all thanks to Ojon. I'm thinking of doing a 'My Hair Story' type of video, just talking through my ever changing hair and the products I've used and use now. Would you be interesting in seeing that? Let me know.

Have you tried Ojon products? Do you like to invest a bit more into haircare or do you prefer to spend less?

MUA & Alexandra Burke: Lip Boom

Thursday, 19 April 2012

MUA Lip Booms £3*

Well who would have thought... Alexandra Burke making lipsticks!

Last week I went along to the launch of the new Lip Booms, created by MUA and Alexandra Burke. (For anyone who's reading this outside of the UK, Alexandra Burke won the X-Factor in 2008).

The Lip Booms are a duo lip product with a matte lipstick on one end and a highlighting lip gloss on the other. You can either use the separate products on their own or use the lip gloss on top of the lipstick, in the centre of the lips for a 3d, fuller lip look. The 8 shades are named after Alexandra's 'famous' catchphrases, including one all you X-Factor watchers will remember... 'Ok.com'. The bottom of the lipstick twists off so you have yourself a little pot of lipstick... I can't for the life of me figure out the point of this. If I ever find out, I'll let you know!

So what do I think? Well let's start by saying, they're £3, so my expectations weren't that high and I knew I wouldn't be disappointed if they weren't amazing. The lipsticks are matte, so can be quite drying. I found 3 of them really nice; 'OMG', 'Bring It' and 'Doin It', but didn't get on well with the others. The lip gloss really does create a 3D effect, but the texture is far too gritty. I wouldn't recommend using it on it's own and also, BEWARE... you won't be able to get glitter off your face for at least 24 hours after using it. BIG mistake testing these out on a Sunday morning...

I'd recommend using these on a night out, when you can pile on the lip product, look great, but not necessarily care how your lips feel. They do look good and I think they achieve what they're supposed to.

The Lip Booms will be available from Superdrug from 9th May for £3.

What do you think of these duo lip products? Is this something you'd be interested in trying?

Benefit The POREfessional Pro Balm Primer

Wednesday, 18 April 2012

Benefit The POREfessional £23.50*

This primer has been spoken about LOADS on blogs. Unlike a lot of people, I'm definitely a primer person and it's a step I'd never miss out in my daily makeup routine - so I was desperate to try it. After trying it a few times on my hand at counters, I was unsure it would really work for me. I recommended it to a few friends who I thought it would work well for, but for me personally I usually prefer water based primers like the Laura Mercier one.

When the opportunity arose I jumped at the chance to try it as it really has such a hype around it. It's described as a "silky, lightweight balm for translucent pore coverage and smoother-than-smooth skin", so I was slightly surprised to see that it in fact has a slight tint of colour to it. The colour seems to disappear when you apply it, so it works for all skin colours. It feels slightly thicker than I'm used to so I just applied it to the centre of my face. The texture is quite strange; it feels silky and maybe slightly greasy but then as soon as you apply it, it disappears into the skin and completely smooths everything out.

It worked really well to keep my foundation in place and felt nice and lightweight on my skin. The price point is quite high at £23.50, but I currently spend £28 on my Laura Mercier primer so it doesn't really bother me!

The POREfessional is available from Feel Unique with free worldwide delivery here. I think Benefit did pretty well with this and so far it seems to be a pretty popular product!

Have you tried this primer? What do you think of it? Do you use a primer??
