January Favourites 2012

Origins Ginger Souffle whipped body cream: I've been using this after my showers/baths and I absolutely love the smell. I'm not even a big fan of ginger, I just love the citrus scent it leaves on the skin. It's so luxurious! I bought this is American, so it was slightly cheaper, but I'd repurchase it here any day!

Herbalife Exfoliating Scrub*: This scrub has strawberry and raspberry seeds in it, which is really different and very affective. Unlike a lot of other exfoliators that are too rough for my face, this one is really gentle. I've been using this a lot recently.

ARK Age Prepare Skin Purifying Mask*: I absolutely love this face mask. It's a really nice, thick cream that you apply a thin layer of all over your face. You leave it on for 10 minutes while it hardens and you try your best not to laugh and crack it. Once it's removed my face always feel SO soft.

Bath & Body Works Fireside scented candle: I got a couple of these candles in America and I have been burning them daily since I got back. The fireside scent is absolutely gorgeous and makes my bedroom smell really cosy and comforting.

MAC Blushbaby blusher: I've mentioned this before so I won't go into detail. Just a really easy sheer tone blusher that I've been wearing everyday to work.

MAC Soba eye shadow: Such an easy shade to wear all over the lid for an everyday look. I use a MAC 217 brush and sweep it all over if I'm in a rush.

Mavala Rose Dust & Moon Grey polish*: I've been loving using these neutral shades alongside my LOOK Beauty 'Bling' glitter polish*. The Mavala polishes are tiny so I always overlooked them, but they are really great quality.

NYX Slide On Pencil in Brown Perfection: Picked up this eyeliner in Ulta in Miami for around £1. I've been using this to line my upper lashes and it makes a really nice change from black liquid liner. Sometimes I just prefer a more natural look, and this is a really easy way to achieve that.

Clarins Skin Illusion Natural Radiance Foundation: I fell back in love with this foundation. I don't think it gets talked about enough these days; it is such a great foundation! It smells like watermelon, blends really easily and genuinely makes you look radiant without looking shiny. This is probably my favourite foundation that I've tried!

Tresemmé Heat Defence styling spray: I bought this is my lunch break in Tesco when I was feeling the need to spend money. A lot of the products I love to use don't actually protect my hair from heat so I felt the need to use something that does. What I like most about this is the pump. Like the John Frieda 3-day straight, it has a really easy to spray pump that evenly distributes the product and is just a pleasure to spray!

So that's all for this month. Have you been using any of these products?

The next day all the writing was gone, like it was never there. I love that about London. Next week it will probably say something else...

Eyes: MUA primer, MAC Soba, Soap + Glory Supercat eyeliner and Makeup For Ever Smoky Lash mascara
Foundation: Mix of Bourjois healthy mix serum + Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
Concealer: Bobbi Brown corrector + Collection 2000 lasting perfection
Hair: Sebastian Potion 9 + Regis Curl Lock curl cream
Bronzer: Sleek contour palette
Blusher: MAC blushbaby
Lips: MAC patisserie

So this is me with natural curly hair. It's actually relaxed ridiculously since I was younger, I used to have tight curls, but now it's more like waves which I quite like. It's definitely easier in the mornings not having to straighten my hair, but I have to wash my hair much more frequently when it's like this. I'm just too lazy!

So what do you think?

I'm doing a photo shoot for Forever 21 today which I'm really excited about. Doing it alongside Lily and a couple of other bloggers, so it should be really fun! It's all prep for this little 'project' we're doing with them in Feb - I'll reveal all soon!

I've started to link my Instagram with my tumblr, so if you don't have Instagram but want to follow my pics, then you can visit my tumblr page

Have a great weekend everyone!

Label M Brunette Dry Shampoo

Thursday, 26 January 2012

Label M have recently launched their new dry shampoo specifically for brunettes. I haven't tried the coloured dry shampoos by Batiste and would usually steer away from 'coloured' sprays, but I thought I'd give this one a go as I love Label M products.

It comes in a really sleek can, just like a regular hairspray. You get 200ml and it retails for £10.50, so it's definitely one of the more expensive dry shampoos. When I tried it my initial thoughts were that it smelt like a strong hairspray (so no extra fruity scents added) and sprays really nicely. Some dry shampoos have really strong direct sprays so you end up with white patches, but this ones makes it really easy to distribute the product evenly thoughout your hair.

It definitely doesn't make your hair white, which is a bonus and I couldn't really notice the brown much. I had to spray it on my hand to check it definitely was coloured, hence the photo above. It says it has been made so that it is suitable for all brunettes, whether it's chesnut or mahogany. What makes this product better than others is the extra ingredient of Rice Starch, which apparently is best used in short bursts throughout the hair, focusing mainly on the roots.

So overall, I'd say if you're happy with your cheap dry shampoos and the white patches or smell doesn't bother you then stick to it. But if you're looking for something a bit more affective and definitely better for your hair, then try the Label M one!

What do you think about coloured dry shampoos?

Two-Tone

Wednesday, 25 January 2012

chipped nails!
Top: H&M
Belt: Urban Outfitters
Skirt: Topshop
Tights: Topshop
Necklace: Temporary Secretary

Loving these two-tone tights I bought recently, although they are very thin so I'm sure they won't last long. I can never find skirts that suit me, so I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this one on. I kind of reminds me of a gym skirt, but I like it!

Not much to report at the moment. Got quite a busy weekend ahead of me... photoshoot for a big fashion brand (will spill all soon), two friends' birthdays, the ZOMG bloggers bash and the MC awards breakfast. Been feeling a bit rough recently so hopefully I'm gonna be feeling fit and ready for the weekend!

What do you think of this outfit? How do you feel about two-tone tights??

Temporary Secretary + Giveaway Winner

Tuesday, 24 January 2012

There's nothing I love more than a small independent business that can completely blow you away. Temporary Secretary is a gorgeous online jewellery shop run by the lovely Sarah.

She recently sent me a package full of goodies and I literally couldn't wait to take photos and show you all what was inside.
It came beautifully wrapped in tissue and ribbon, making it hard to open without feeling guilty. Inside was some rings, a bracelet, an owl necklace and a moustache necklace. I love everything, but I especially love the moustache necklace. WARNING: You will be seeing this is MANY upcoming outfit photos!

Chanel Perfection Lumiere

Thursday, 19 January 2012

Last Thursday the much anticipated Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation was launched. This foundation is to replace the Mat Lumiere and the Pro Lumiere, which are both very popular, so the expectations were high.

I happened to be in town last Thursday, so I popped into Debenhams to pick up a sample. The lovely lady at the counter actually gave me 5 samples so I could try it properly - this is how it always should be with high end foundations!

I've never really used a matte foundation before as I'm always worried it'll look cakey. This foundation is semi-matte so I thought I'd give it a go. I picked up the shade 30 Beige, which I think is a little too orange for me, so I may try a lighter shade. I used a brush to apply this and my first thoughts were that it smells really lovely. I found that it left my forehead and cheeks looking pretty flawless, I did however have a problem with my nose area. I thought that it left the area around my nose looking really dry and it showed my pores (didn't even know I had visible pores before this). I tried it a few days in a row and went through times of loving it and hating it. I think for now, as it is a whopping £36, I'll hold off from purchasing it. I might try a lighter shade and see how I get on.

I'm not sure Chanel customers will be pleased with this foundation replacing two very popular ones, but hey, you can't please everyone. I reckon a lot of people will LOVE this foundation too!

Have you tried it yet?

Dress Up

Monday, 16 January 2012

I recently did a little project with Boohoo.com and made a short 'haul' video for them. This was one of the dresses they sent me. I really like it and actually ended up wearing it out for my birthday.

Here is the video I made for them. You can see this dress better and the other dress I chose.

It's not something I would normally pick but think it's actually quite nice! What do you think?

Week #2

Sunday, 15 January 2012

- Enjoyed a nice Corona at my desk on Friday afternoon. This week actually went quite quickly but I didn't feel great. It seems like everyone's been ill this week.

- After having to send it back 3 times because it was faulty, I finally got the tripod that my sisters bought me for my birthday. It's so nice to use one that isn't broken like my old one was! I also got a massive floor lamp from Ikea and put a daylight bulb in it. This is going to be really useful in the morning when I'm putting my makeup on in the dark and also helpful for taking photos in the evening.

- Yesterday's lunch was pub lunch - I had my favourite duck salad. Last night I went for sushi with some friends. We had to sit crossed leg on the floor, which was fine, but they forgot our order so we were sitting on the floor for 2 hours. It was painful... we got cramp. Afterwards we were naughty and got Baskin & Robbins - chocolate chip with marshmallow sauce and sprinkles!

- A new discovery this week was the Accesorize nail polish. Loving the one coat metallic polish. They're only around £4 and I would never normally look in there for polish!

Hope you've had a good week!
