Winter Skincare Part 1: Cleanse & Tone

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm*  |  NUDE Cleansing Oil*  | Lierac Vitamin Toner

I really wanted to talk to you guys about my winter skincare routine as well as some of the products I'm currently trying out, but when I attempted to do so it got so long winded I soon realised it would need to be broken up. So this is part one of a FOUR part blog post! Don't worry, I'll spread them out, but there are some amazing products that I want to talk to you about.

Let's begin with cleansers, possibly the most important product in my routine. I wear quite a lot of makeup, mainly because I love applying it and trying new things, but this means that I need to take it all off properly at the end of the day. The day I realised how gross it is to not take your makeup off properly was the day I started having pretty good skin. I've been steering away from cream and gel cleansers and solely using balms and oils which are much better for my type of dry/dehydrated skin. The Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleanser is a balm cleanser and you only need a small amount mixed with a drop of water in the palm of your hand. I remove my eye makeup with bioderma before using this as I don't want to waste it and would need a lot to remove my eye makeup. I also don't think I'd want to use a balm on my eyes for some reason. It's incredibly luxurious and after I've removed it with a muslin cloth my skin feel cleansed and hydrated.

The NUDE cleansing oil.... WOW. I start by using one pump and rub it all over my eyes, which doesn't sting one tiny bit (I don't know why this surprised me) but it breaks down makeup so well that all my eyeliner and mascara comes off with one swipe of the muslin cloth. I then use two pumps on my face and it feels incredible on my skin. It's so nice to have a product that removes makeup so well without stripping the skin at all. I can't recommend this enough!

I recently bought the Lierac toner from Paris and so far I've really been enjoying it. It's a step I tend to forget in my skincare routine, but it iss important so I'm forcing myself to remember.

I'd highly recommend the cleansers and I'll report back after a couple of months of using the toner!

Are any of these products currently in your skincare routine?

Lily xx

  2. The Emma Hardie cleanser has become my favourite product in my whole skincare routine, but I agree about removing eye makeup beforehand, I find that using the balm actually stings my eyes a little and is just not a pleasant feeling!

  7. I have used the Emma Hardie cleansing balm and Nude cleansing oil for years. I swear by them both. I have not tried the Lierac toner, so I am interested to see what you think of it. I love a good toner. I'm currently using Jurlique rose spray which is beautifully soothing for winter.

  15. I don't use any of these, but my skin still doesn't seem to do what I want it to. I am actually using a gel cleanser, maybe that's the issue? It's a really frustrating journey trying to figure out a good skin care routine! x

  16. I've been thinking about switching to a balm cleanser as I have quite dry skin too and my current one isn't great, but I wasn't sure what to go for. I'll definitely take a look at the Emma Hardie one! Thank you xx

  23. I haven't tried nay of these products, I might check out any free international shipping sites. I agree with you - I prefer cleansers that are water based or some oils however I find that they can make me break out.

Have you guys tried Bioderma's miracle water?! I've done a little review as one of my first blog posts if you want to check it out.

  24. I use the EH and the Alpha-h cleansing oil (which is also a balm, actually) BOTH on my eyes, too: they remove my waterproof make-up, don't sting and leave my whole face clean and super soft :)

  25. I use the emma hardie on my eyes no problem, I've never had it sting and those who say it does must be rubbing it into their eyeballs or something?! haha oops! Give it a try tonight and see how you feel, I don't add water, just massage the balm all over then remove with a hot flannel. Mmmmm hot flannels, SO nice in winter! :)
