For me bronzers aren't a summer essential, they're an all year round essential. It's just a part of my makeup routine that I can't miss. I apply it after my foundation, before my blusher and it just warms up my complexion making me feel a bit less ghost like and also gives a bit more structure to my face. Saying this though I have a small collection of four (small for me). I am very picky with my bronzers as I'm not a fan of the tangerine look. So here we go... let's talk bronzers.
NARS Laguna is my all time favourite and I would repurchase it over and over again. It gives me the perfect glow and it's almost impossible to make yourself look orange as it just isn't that kind of shade. Although it's not completely matte I find it great for contouring and this is my most used bronzer of all time.
I lusted after the Chanel Bronze Universal for so long and around a year ago I took the plunge. It is a cream bronzer so is completely different to the other powder bronzers. I wouldn't recommend this for beginners as it is a little tricky to master. I find using a brush like the Real Techniques Stippling Brush is good as you don't apply too much product. It is definitely possible to go overboard and make yourself look orange, so less is definitely more in this case. If used correctly though, it can give a gorgeous summer glow. This one doesn't get the most use because it's cream and is a bit more of a hassle to use.
The Jouer bronzer is a new one to me and so far, I'm impressed! It reminds me of the NARS Laguna but what's so amazing is that it includes SPF 39 which is very rare for a bronzing powder. It's quite hard to imagine how a bronzer can 'replenish and hydrate' but after using this I can see how it does. It feels gorgeous on the skin and is the perfect tan shade for me. This has quickly become a favourite!
The final bronzer is pretty special and it's the Guerlain Teracotta Light Brunette 03. My first ever bronzer was a Guerlain Teracotta bronzer. I was copying my friend who bought it at the airport when we were about 13 and I swore by it and used it for years. This one in particular is really great as it's a mix of bronzer and highlighter. I wouldn't use this one for contouring, but instead I'd use it to warm up the face and give a nice glow. I use this one on good skin days when I'm wearing a sheer foundation and just want to add a nice sheen to my face.
My blusher collection is about ten times this, but for some reason with bronzers I find one I like and stick to it. I don't feel the need to find more and I'm happy with the staple ones I've found. Are you a bronzer person? What's your favourite one?

ReplyDeletei'm always torn between getting laguna but i'm fully committed to Benefit's Hoola. I'm quite pale so laguna looks like it might be too dark.

i'm a bronzer person! always have to apply it and think it gives that nice touch to your make up. this post is really good as I am currently looking for a new bronzer think I may go for the Nars one :)x

ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to find a matt bronzer...hate the ones with sparkly shimmer in the winter....thought Laguna was quite shimmery but if you say it's good I'll have another look. The jouer one looks perfect for me - historically I'd wear hoola or Dior's old one with collagen in it (don't make it any more)

I use the Bourjois Chocolate bronzer or the Sleek Contour colour for my bronzer!I'd love to try out the Chanel one though, I'll save up my pennies!
ReplyDeleteI love Nars Laguna for nights out and some days but sometimes I think the colour is too brown on me! My favourite bronzer at the moment is the Bobbi Brown matte bronzer, it's so amazing and easy to blend! xxx

The Guerlain bronzer reminds me of the MUA blusher! I occasionaly apply bronzer as I always no matter how much I blend in I always have this wierd mark! <3 xo

I actually have only one bronzer and it was a friend that gave me once because it was to dark for her.. after using for a while now I feel that it can be a bit orangy some times, specially in the winter when my skin goes lighter.
