Travel sized MAC Fix+ - £7
This was a very spontaneous purchase when I was waiting in the queue at MAC. I've heard so much about it as it's such a famous product, but had never tried it so I thought what the hell and bought the mini travel sized version.
The Fix+ is described as an 'aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of
Sugi".
It can be used as a finishing spray once your makeup is applied or as a makeup refresher throughout the day.
Hmmm... I'm not sure about it. The first thing I noticed is that it's really wet. Unlike the Caudalie Beauty Elixer, it's not a mist, it's more of a direct spray. I don't like to use it directly after applying my makeup as I think it sort of ruins it. It is a nice spray to freshen up, but my Caudalie Beauty Elixer already does that so well.
I think what it is good for is changing an overly matte look into a more wearable dewy look. I think there are probably other ways I can use this, but I'm a bit 'meh' about it. If you have any suggestions on good ways to use this then please let me know!
Do you use the fix+?
Lily xx

I just bought Fix+ today and spritzed it, it certainly is refreshing. I've heard spraying it onto your makeup brush before applying foundation also helps achieve a dewy look xx
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about Mac Fix+ either. I bought the full size bottle and have barely used it. It makes me look oily a lot faster.
ReplyDeleteI do like it, but I use it before I put on my make-up, don't really know why...
ReplyDeleteI remember using mine on my foundation brush to make a heavy foundation lighter coverage. I also used it on my liner brush towards the end of my Clinique gel liner's life. Apart from that, I never used it hence why it went back to mac quite quickly.

I've had Fix+ in the past but I'm using ELF Mist & Set at the minute and I actually prefer it to MAC :) Saves lots of money too xx
ReplyDeleteI like it, it's good sprayed onto their mineralize skin finishes to achieve a nicer finish when using them, but it's not groundbreaking and definitely doesn't prolong the look of makeup!
ReplyDeleteI'm always umming and aahing about the fix+ Not sure if it's anything spectacular...

I heard if you mix it with your foundation before you apply it it will set a lot faster
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about buying the fix+ for a while, but I don't think I will now. Thank you for saving my hard-earned money! :) x
ReplyDeletei found that fix+ is better when i apply powder over my foundation. if i use it just on foundation it doesn't do a lot!

I've not used this myself, but I've been intrigued after seeing lots of people rave about it. Do you find it works as a setting spray, or not so much? x
ReplyDeleteI use this product almost every day, it makes my make up look a lot more dewy and fresh after application and I also take it to work to me to re-freshen it up throughout the day. I have the 100ml version and it's nearly all gone now- must repurchase! x
ReplyDeleteI think it's a brilliant refresher and make up "setter". I find it mist-like, maybe you need to hold it further away. Read my post if you're interested x

think i'm going to try the caudalie beauty elixir over this one, looks much nicer. not too sure whether i'd get enough use out of this.

Personally I prefer Mac Fix + to the Caudalie Beauty Eixir, but then I use them for different things. The fix+ works best for me when I use it as I'm getting ready. E.g. I'll spray it on before I apply my makeup, and then if I'm going out and want my makeup to stick really well for a long amount of time I'll put on my makeup, give it a spritz, then lightly powder over wherever I want it to be a bit more Matt in finish. It's great for intensifying the pigment of eyeshadow/ using eye shadow for eyeliner!
ReplyDeleteI use the ELF make up mist and set which is basically exactly the same as fix + (added vitamins cucumber etc!) but only £3.50 a pop, I recommend trying it!
ReplyDeleteI find it better to put over makeup than the Caudalie elixir which I use more as a serum / night time toner x

ReplyDeleteI didn't love this because it just made my makeup look weird as it's too wet. It might just be me though :)
ReplyDeleteI use the fix + every time I decide to wear foundation and works fine, it gives my skin a nice, natural look but I'm thinking of buying the beauty elixer since so many people prefer that over the mac fix+
ReplyDeleteI found this post really interesting as I've been toying with the idea of buying this for a while, but as I only wear bronzer and not foundation I've not bought it. Think this post may have saved me some money, thanks!!

I have just purchased this aswell and like you i am really unsure if it actually does anything! I did not expect it to be so wet and first attempt looked like id been out in a heavy rain shower ahah (held it abit close to my face) I dont think it really affected my makeup either! I suppose it feels nice if you get abit hot tho :S if you find any other makeup setting sprays that really work would love to know! Love your blog.

I bought this on a whim as well and I feel the same, just seems like a cheaper, more wet beauty elixir to me! x
