Bright Here, Bright Now

Sunday, 30 January 2011

I have always been very unsure of trying 'drugstore' skincare. I've sort of been brain washed to think that only the expensive brands are good. Although a lot of the cheaper brands DO have a lot of rubbish and chemicals in them, there are some that don't.

I saw a review of this product on YouTube and thought I'd try it out. It is Soap & Glory Bright Here, Bright Now energy balm. It sort of feels like a thick moisturizer and I have been applying it after my primer and before my foundation. I  don't wear it everyday, but for the days when I feel extra rough and tired, this product is great. It is supposed to give you a sort of glow and brighten up your face. I really like how it applies and how it feels on my skin... but I wasn't sure if it was actually doing anything. But then I realized that this week I have received way more compliments from my friends than usual... so I guess it works! It is £10. Now I am very tempted to try some other Soap & Glory products! Anyone recommend any?

I have had a mental weekend and am exhausted, so this will definitely come in use Monday morning!!

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my graduation dress. I can't wait to wear it again, I love it!

W.I.H.T's Blog Birthday!!

Sunday, 23 January 2011

Wow, what a year it has been. I begrudgingly started this blog in a 'Digital Marketing' lecture at University and very soon after began to love it and embrace the life of a blogger! I never thought for one minute that anyone would be interested in reading anything I wrote or looking at any of my amateur photographs.... but you lot seemed to prove me wrong. The success of this blog is all thanks to you lovely readers! Every comment that is written on my posts make me smile and I really appreciate all your kind words.

Starting this blog has also led me to indulge myself in the blogging world and I have found some amazing blogs, which have entertained me day after day. There are some very talented people around, and no matter how many people make fun of 'a part-time blogger', I think it is a great thing that everyone should try!

Anyway, enough chat... here are some photos of W.I.H.T's 1st birthday Tea Party hosted by me! Best friends, cakes and tea... what more could a girl want!

Sweets from Bill's, China Tea Set and Raspberry Jelly
Lola's Cupcakes: Strawberry,Rocky Road,Vanilla,Chocolate,Red Velvet,Oreo.

The lovely people at Rinkoff's Bakery sent some amazing treats, which went down extremely well! Everything I try from them always tastes absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend trying any of their yummy baked goodies. We were lucky enough to taste a preview of their Valentines biscuits and big cupcakes...(photos below).

I had a beautiful day, with lovely people and delicious food. Thanks again for the support this year and I hope that the year to come is even better!!

Lots of Love

Misunderstood

Whenever I wear this dress I get really mixed reactions...
Some people think I look really Gothic and some think I look like a very young school girl. Who knows. I hope I don't look like either really... but I really like this dress. I need more Peter Pan collars, they so easily completely transform an outfit!

The dress is from ASOS, it's jersey and very comfortable! The necklace is from my favourite stall in Camden.

I am at the end of my first week at my new job... and I'm loving it! Very happy!

It's 'What I Heart Today's 1st birthday on Sunday and I will be celebrating it very appropriately... so you can look forward to some photos in the Birthday post on Sunday evening.

Thanks for reading!

Make me up

Friday, 14 January 2011

When I buy make-up I try to buy products which are really versatile. I am quite behind on these purchases as they are MAC favourites, but I thought it was about time I joined in.

The MAC Bare Study paint pot is a really useful product to have in your make up bag. It is a creamy eye shadow in a shimmery champagne colour. It's really nice to use as it is so soft and it has a good consistency. I like to either use it on its own all over my eye lid, or to use it as a primer underneath my eye shadows.

I also got a Satin Taupe eye shadow, which is in a frost finish. I love this colour, it can either be used for a daytime look likely brushed over the Bare Study paint pot, or can be built up in the crease of your eye for a more night time look. I love it.

This is how I store my brushes which I use a lot... love this tin.

Thanks for reading. New job starts on Monday! Excited, nervous, excited, nervous... I can't decide.

L for Lilac

Wednesday, 5 January 2011

Sorry if this may be a boring post, but I just wanted to show you a cardigan I bought a while ago at the beginning of the knit season. I wanted a knitted cardigan and had seen some nice ones around, like a white chunky cardigan from New Look that had big brown buttons. But they either didn't look right, or were really itchy. I came across this one in Topshop and thought it was really nice. I don't think I have anything in my wardrobe that is purple, so this little lilac number looks nice and fresh amongst my blacks and greys.

I am having 3 wisdom teeth out on Friday and having a general anesthetic so I am a bit scared about that and sad that I won't be able to eat for a while... but hopefully I'll do something nice tomorrow before it, and at the moment I am watching the new Grey's Anatomy, so I'm happy!

Here are some more photos...

Thanks for reading. And HI to all my new readers!!

Beauty Buys

Sunday, 2 January 2011

After recently becoming obsessed with beauty bloggers, especially Fleur and Ingrid, I have been thinking more about my make-up collection and whether the products I have are the right ones, and best ones for me.

I have always used the MAC moisture cover concealer, but have recently noticed it is too wet and leaves the area under my eyes looking too shiny. It also doesn't cover up my dark circles well enough. So I decided to try the Studio Sculpt Concealer instead, which comes in the nicest little packaging. I really like it so far, and find it really easy to dab on with my finger (although I don't know how anyone with long nails uses it, lucky I have short nails).

I also bought (as you saw in my last post) the O.P.I 'you don't know Jacques' nail polish, which I absolutely love. I don't have any brown nail polish, because I don't really like brown, but this one is sort of a dark brown mixed with grey and it looks great on!

I also got an O.P.I top coat, because I have been using a really cheap one for ages and it just doesn't work. The O.P.I top coat is really good and keeps my nail polish on for much longer!

I hope everyone had a great new years eve! Mine was really chilled, but we still had a ridiculous amount of Champagne! 2010 has been a mental year, I still can't believe I did 3 years of Uni, it flew by! I'm looking forward to starting my grown up life in 2011.

This time last year, I don't think I even knew what a blog was, so I am very impressed with how successful it had been. Thanks a lot for reading, I really appreciate it!

Happy new year!!!
