Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer

Saturday, 25 May 2013

The new launch from Origins is definitely something to get excited about. As the price gap between mass market skincare and high end skincare gets smaller and as brands such as Origins, Ojon and Bumble & Bumble start retailing in Boots, there couldn't be a better time for Origins to bring out a more affordable moisturiser exclusively to Boots.

When people ask me for skincare recommendations I always look to Origins so it's great that they can now offer a daily moisturiser for only £23. I'm already a fan of their GinZing eye cream so when I heard about this moisturiser I knew it would be good!

It's a light-weight, oil-free, gel consistency that should be used as a day cream. It feels incredibly refreshing on the skin and includes Panax Ginseng and Caffeine to "jumpstart skin's hydration levels". I love that it smells like Oranges as I'm an orange juice in the morning kinda girl!

In the evening I like to use a thick cream, but for the daytime this is the perfect 'wake me up' moisturiser. It's already available on the Origins website and will be in Boots from June.

For now, I'll leave you with some of Origins' top tips for energy-boosting:

Eat a big breakfast but a light lunch // Eat power snacks throughout the day (dried fruit & almonds) // Opt for dark chocolate for an endorphin buzz // Surround yourself with citrus scents // Get your vitamin C // Stand up, stretch and take deep breaths // Listen to uplifting music // Laugh!

HOW TO: TEXTURED HAIR

Friday, 24 May 2013

As you know by now, I have really curly hair so when I wake up in the morning after tossing and turning all night my hair is a bit mental and quite curly at the roots. So I start my day by using my GHDs to straighten my hair completely. I always find though that it just looks a bit dull and very 'straightened' so I've been using a few products to help it look more natural and to give my hair a bit of oomph!

I start by using a small amount of Bumble & Bumble Semi Sumo, warming it up between my fingers and then rubbing it quite roughly into the ends of my hair, separating it into small sections. It smells really nice, like mint tea so I find it hard not to over-use it.

I then take the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray and spritz it three times into the palm of my hand, rub it between my hands and scrunch it into the mid lengths of my hair. I find it to be quite wet if you just spray it directly onto the hair and if you use your hands you get more control of where the product goes. Despite this being a salt spray for limp hair, it doesn't dry out my hair too much and just gives it the perfect amount of texture.

To finish off I like to use a small amount of the Oribe Texturizing Spray in the roots of my hair. I spray this into the roots, working it in with my hands. You won't see any white sprays marks and your hair is left with a good amount of lift.

So who would have thought, the girl with big frizzy hair using texturing products?! I'm pretty happy with this new 'first day hair' routine, have you tried any of these products?

DIPTYQUE BAIES & L'OMBRE DANS L'EAU

Until recently I thought that this was a known thing, but apparently not, so I'm here today to let you guys in on a little secret if you didn't already know! Diptyque L'Ombre dans L'eau is pretty much the exact perfume match of Diptyque Baies.

I've always been a huge fan of the Baies candle (and now the room spray!) but to everyone's disappointment it doesn't come in a perfume. I've owned L'Ombre dans L'Eau for over a year now which is why it's in the old bottle shape and I fell in love with it the moment I tried it.

Both fragrances are a combination of roses and blackcurrant which is why it has the most fresh, green, fruity scent perfect for all year round but especially for the Summer. I find them pretty much identical with slightly more emphasis on the rose in L'Ombre dans L'Eau.

So if you're a fan of the Baies candle, I'd highly recommend picking up a L'Ombre dans L'Eau perfume, I love mine!

IN MY BEAUTY BAG

Wednesday, 22 May 2013

A few months ago I made it my mission to de-clutter my handbag, pick up the the strays from the bottom of the bag and house them all in a compact beauty bag. I picked up this one from And Other Stories and now I can just grab the bag from inside my handbag whenever I need something.

I change it up every now and again depending on what I'm using with a few staple essentials that always stick around. I always carry tissues and wet wipes on me, as well as a few hairbands, clips and kirby grips for emergencies.

In terms of beauty I keep a few different lip options so I'm ready for any situation. For daytime balms I have the Wild About Beauty Nutrilips Balm in 'Camelia' for a raspberry tint, the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector in '05' for a natural glow and the FRESH Sugar Lip Treatment which I like to use on the tube because it's not in a pot. Recently I've been testing out the Hourglass No.28 Lip Treatment Oil which is a really unique product. It comes in a pump with a 24-karat gold-plated tip that feels really cooling on the lips. The product itself is like an oil/balm that is a blend of botanicals and vitamins to help with hydration, regeneration and lip protection. There's so much to say about this lip product, I think a revisited review is in order!

I like to keep a cheek product on me as my blusher tends to disappear the quickest, so I keep my Bobbi Brown 'Pretty Powerful' pot rouge on hand for brush-free application on the go. I love the slightly darker pink shade as it also works really well on my lips.

Another essential for me is the Percy & Reed Dry Shampoo because my hair just suddenly decides to turn greasy without any warning so a spray of this in the roots of my hair makes my hair feel so fresh and it never leaves white marks.

As a travelling London girl my hands can get really grubby and dry so I always carry around a hand sanitizer and a hand cream. My all time favourite hand cream is the Kiehl's Ultimate Hand Salve, it's not at all sticky and it really gets rid of any dryness. I usually use the Soap & Glory Hand Maid but I'm not a huge fan of the packaging as it's not very secure so recently I've been trying the Renouve anti-ageing hand sanitizer. It's really different to any other hand sanitizer I've tried as it feels and looks like an oil rather than a gel. It leaves your hands feeling clean but not at all stripped, so I'm a fan!

As I said I switch up my beauty bag every now and again so let me know if you'd like this post to become a series!
